Synopsis
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow comes to life in a vibrant new musical featuring young performers from NHTF's PLAYground Theatre Program. When an inane schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, comes to the farming community of Sleepy Hollow, he brings with him all his worldly possessions as he seeks a well-to-do wife. He's sure his dream will come true when he spots the striking Katrina Van Tassel. Wooing Katrina proves harder than planned when the boisterous Brom Bones discovers his plans. Matters are complicated further when the most renowned phantom of all time, the Headless Horseman, emerges the night that Ichabod musters up the courage to cross through the haunted graveyard alone.

Analyzing the Act . . .
  • Our 21 Youth Actors represented 12 different cities of NH: Manchester, Derry, Londonderry, Merrimack, Hooksett, Concord, Boscawen, Loudon, Bow, Contoocook, Sunapee, and Exeter.
  • The Headless Horseman's Horse took 4 weeks to build and was made of chicken wire, plaster, wood, and burlap.  His eyes were made from the circular containor a gumball machine prize comes in and they lit up red by installing some LED lights.
  • We brought in two professionals, one from NYC and one from Boston MA, to teach real dutch clogging for the town dance and sword work for the battle scene.
  • Two-thirds of the period costumes used in the production were hand-made for the show by our Costume Designer (and brilliant seamstress) Lorraine Louie.
